π Kaedyn's first day back of Semester 2 π€£
Well guys, my sweet summer child has reached a new level of Year 7.
We all knew Kaedyn would accumulated an entire friendship group of girls, he's a chick magnet! This is not a good thing... It means every afternoon I receive a detailed debrief of whatever emotional apocalypse unfolded throughout their day.
Today's debrief went like this... On day 1 π¬
"Why are they all so mean to each other?"
"And why is everyone on their period?!"
π€£π€£π€£ DEAD!! Welcome to adolescence, you won't recognise your friends some days π«
KD bear... Tis a strange and terrifying time where hormones surge through the population like a zombie virus, period cycles of not only your classmates but also your teachers will synchronise through what I can only assume is ancient female witchcraft, and those once perfectly stable friendships can buckle before recess because maybe Leah smiled at the boy Aisha liked... even though Leah said she didn't like him... but she did... but now she doesn't... except she still does and it's an entire fallout, take cover π€£
You won't understand it so don't try to...women have been trying to understand women since the beginning of time, we are all somehow a little unhinged at times.
My only advice is hang out with the boys or declare yourself Switzerland immediately, be neutral, just feed them chocolate and say NOTHING about nobody! Your words are ammunition.
If one of them asks,
"Whose side are you on?" π¬
The answer is, "I'm not getting involved" or "I'm going to go and play with the boys!" OR yell for your brother, he will breach the facility to save you... I hope π
If someone says,
"Can I tell you something, but you can't tell anyone..."
The answer is NOOO, and you reverse like your life depends on it, get the hell out off there!
Boy bestie territory is dangerous, you are the token guy in the group, you're now their therapist, bodyguard and worst of all... The messenger, we all know what happens to the messenger.
You become the designated "Can you ask her if she's mad at me?" Guy and if you get one word wrong, you'll be publicly executed in the playground.
But it's sweet how deeply he cares and how overwhelmed he becomes for them. If one of them is sad, he wants to understand it and if they're fighting, he's genuinely distressed because, in his mind, everyone should just be friends.
He's still just this incredibly kind little human underneath all the sass.
May he never accidentally become the subject of a "we need to talk" conversation where some stropy little miss crosses her arms π¬
