Spooky Scary Storytime...Part 1

Alright, besties...light a candle, grab your crystals, and grab your trusty cat or dog to protect you, these will get a little creepier over the next few days if your into the spooks. It’s time to let a little of the crazy out into the air. You might think I’m totally nutty by the end of this (or just nuttier than usual), but hey—what’s life without a little supernatural spice?

Let’s talk about Kaedyn.

Now, if you know my kid, you know he’s sharp. But what you might not know is… I’m convinced he has a sixth sense. Legit. I’ve always believed that when you lose one thing, you're gifted something else. Some unseen force steps in to balance the scales. And in Kaedyn’s case, it’s the veil. The other side. The woo-woo realm that none of us can explain.

He doesn’t see them much now. Thank God, but when he was younger, he saw things. And not the "oops I left the laundry basket in the hallway and scared myself" kind of things. No. Real things. The kind that makes your arm hairs stand up.

Let me take you back. The boys were tiny, maybe 2 and 3. We were at my parents' house feeding their pets while they were away. We brought the supportive-but-hideous orange Bumbo knockoff seat for Kaedyn and plopped him and Dante in my old bedroom. They had their Hungry Jacks and iPads. Living their best chicken-nugget-fueled life. Meanwhile, Phil and I were out tending to the cats.

All was peaceful…until it wasn’t.

We walked back into the room, and the boys were giggling and content. Then suddenly, Kaedyn looks up, but past us, his eyes went wide, and he lets out the kind of bloodcurdling scream that makes your soul try to climb out through your mouth. And poor KD, he can't run, but he physically tried to get up and out of that Bumbo.

Dante ran! He didn't care who he left behind๐Ÿ˜‚ The way he bolted out of the room? Usain Bolt could never!

And Phil swooped in like an Olympic dad and yeeted Kaedyn out of the room faster than I could process what the hell just happened.

I stood there. Frozen. Because I knew what Kaedyn had seen. My grandmother. She had temporarily lived in my room when I was nine while she was going through chemo. We were very close. And ever since she passed, people, completely random people, friends with no backstory have broken down crying in that room, saying they see blue eyes watching them, watching me.

My grandmother had bright blue eyes.

A few days later, I pulled out an old photo album. Without hesitation, Kaedyn pointed her out. He knew exactly who she was. Told me where he saw her and he was 100% accurate.

But it didn’t stop there.

It happened again. This time with my uncle, my cousin’s dad. Kaedyn never met him. We’d never spoken about him around Kaedyn, not once. And yet… one day, same thing. Kaedyn freaks. Sees someone. I pull out the photos again. He calmly points and says, “Aunty Cat’s dad.” As if he knew. Which, in theory, he absolutely shouldn’t have.

And the cherry on top?

We were at my brother-in-law’s house one day, Kaedyn on the couch being his cheeky little self about 4yrs old. He had the TV remote, flicking channels, turning volume up and down. One of them, either Phil or Neiz had tried to turn the volume down and… nothing. The remote wasn’t working. They popped the back open...No batteries.

The controller didn’t even have batteries in it! And yet Kaedyn had been changing the channels with it for the last half an hour...

So… yeah. You still with me?๐Ÿ‘€

I don’t know what it is. Maybe kids are closer to the veil when they’re little. Maybe they haven’t been taught to unsee yet. But I believe him. I believe what he saw. What he felt. And whether you’re Team Skeptic or fully woo-woo like me, I think there’s something to be said for the things we can’t explain.

Anyway, thanks for coming to my sรฉance.

Stay spooky,
V ๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ‘ป๐Ÿ•ฏ️
